The following chapters are proving scholarship opportunities. Please click on the flyers for more information. ABWA National also offers several scholarships through SBMEF and those are listed below as well.

Scholarships funded by each chapter are provided by the Stephen Bufton Memorial Education Fund (SBMEF). SBMEF provides educational grants and scholarships to women pursuing post-secondary educational goals as well as ongoing professional development. 

To be eligible for a SBMEF scholarship, applicants must be female, a citizen of the United States, enrolled in a licensed, accredited or state-approved institution, and meet other eligibility criteria set by individual chapters.

 

The Stephen Bufton Memorial Education Fund has awarded over $17,000,000 of scholarships since 1953.

Greater Oakland Charter Chapter: $2000 Impact Scholarship

Amount: $2,000
Institution: Resident of Oakland, Macomb, Genesee, Lapeer,

Livingston, Washtenaw, or Wayne counties attending any

accredited 4 year Michigan college or university
Maximum Number of Applicants: unlimited
Number of Applicant Spots Remaining: unlimited

Application Deadline: May 30, 2020

Novi Oaks Charter Chapter: $2000 Impact Scholarship

Amount: $2,000 (offering two $2000 scholarships)
Institution: Michigan resident attending any accredited

4 year Michigan college or university
Maximum Number of Applicants: unlimited
Number of Applicant Spots Remaining: unlimited

Suburban Connection Charter Chapter: $1000 Impact Scholarship

Amount: $1,000
Institution: Michigan r
esident - high school student or currently

attending a community college, technical, or vocational school in

Macomb, Oakland, St. Clair, or Wayne counties.

National Scholarship in memory of Betty Burns

Amount: $3,000
Institution: Kansas University
